Network Operations Center (NOC) Silicon Dairy, LLC.'s network is located in a state-of-the-art network operations center in South Burlington, Vermont. Our facility includes waterless fire supression technology, multiple redundant power backup systems, and multipath fiber optics to ensure optimal performance and uptime. Network Hardware Fast-Ethernet, Gigabit Fiber, and Routing technologies are provided by  Enterasys, Lucent Technologies, and 3com. Our wireless network runs on various hardware from Trango Broadband. Servers Our servers are a mix of AMD and Intel Xeon systems all running the Linux operating system. Each server has its own independent RAID subsystem for absolute filesystem redundancy and speed.
All servers are backed up daily to a Dell on-site storage array with an identical array housed off-site. Long-term storage (more than 1 year) is kept on Blu-ray discs, also off-site. Software Web technologies utilize Apache, mySQL, Perl, and PHP. We believe strongly in using Open Source software over costly proprietary systems. This allows us to keep our costs low while still maintaining an enterprise-class network capable of handling any level of service. |
