Clearing Internet Explorer's Cache Microsoft Internet Explorer keeps a "cache" on your hard drive. A "cache" a collection of files saved automatically to help make web browsing faster. However, the cache can become corrupted or damaged which can slow down your web experience or make web sites appear to be unavailable. To remedy the problem, you can tell Internet Explorer to delete the files in your cache and start over.
Deleteing cache files does not in any way affect your computer in a negative manner. In fact, most Internet Explorer problems can be resolved by clearing your cache. | Open Internet Explorer by either clicking on the desktop icon, or from your Start menu. Click on the Tools menu and then select Internet Options from the menu. |
| After the Internet Properties window opens, click on the Delete Files button near the center of the window under the heading Temporary Internet Files. |
| Check the box next to Delete all offline content and then click the OK button. Please be patient! It can take anywhere between a few seconds to several minutes for this process to complete. |
| Next, click the Settings button to the right of the Delete Files button we clicked on in the previous step. |
| Ensure Check for newer versions of stored pages is set to Automatically. Then, set Amount of disk space to use to 50. Click OK on both windows you have open to save your settings. |
